A brake caliper should never hang from its flexible hose. Support it from the moment mounting bolts are removed, identify left and right applications, keep the hose untwisted, protect the piston and seals, and confirm the bleeder is located where trapped air can escape.

Confirm caliper orientation
Compare piston count, bracket, inlet, bleeder, parking-brake mechanism, and pad hardware. Left and right calipers may bolt on the wrong side while placing bleeders low or twisting hoses.
Keep the old caliper until fitment and operation are confirmed.
Support during removal
Use a purpose-made hanger or strong wire from a stable suspension or body point. Do not hang from the spring where it can slide or from a line or sensor wire.
If the hose is reused, avoid sharp bends and keep the connection clean.
Retract pistons correctly
Inspect boots and piston surfaces. Front pistons may press straight in, while some rear designs rotate, require an electronic parking-brake service mode, or use a specified tool. Forcing the wrong method can damage the caliper.
Monitor reservoir level while retracting fluid.
Route and connect the hose
Use new correct sealing washers when specified, keep the hose relaxed, and install every bracket and clip. Turn steering lock to lock and inspect suspension travel using a safe approved method.
The hose must not rub the wheel, tire, strut, or body.
Bleed and test
Tighten every fastener to exact specifications, bleed with the bleeder above the fluid chamber, and inspect for leaks under firm pedal pressure. Confirm pad and hardware seating and free wheel rotation.
Pump the pedal before moving and perform only a controlled low-speed test until operation is verified.
