Verify identity before cleaning
Photograph labels, engineering numbers, casting marks, connector keys, mounting points, and orientation. Compare suffixes and production notes with the listing and your removed part.

Inspect for impact and repair
Use good side lighting to find bends, ripples, cracks, pulled threads, welded repairs, enlarged holes, and distorted brackets. Compare symmetry only where the design should be symmetrical.

Check corrosion and wear
