Document moisture first
Before drying or disassembly, photograph wet carpet, staining, debris, and the highest damp area. Water can travel along harnesses and insulation, so the puddle is not always below the entry point.
Protect nearby modules and connectors from additional water.
Remove cowl pieces carefully
Mark wiper positions if removal is required, use the correct puller or method, and release plastic retainers without bending the panel. Brittle clips and weather seals may need replacement.
Do not force tools against the windshield edge.
Clean drains and filter area
Lift out leaves by hand or vacuum, then use gentle methods to verify drains. High-pressure air or hard wire can push debris deeper or disconnect a drain.
Install the correct filter in the marked airflow direction and seat the cover fully.
Inspect seals and covers
Check cowl panel fit, cabin-filter access seals, grommets, fasteners, seams, and windshield-area paths. Replace damaged components rather than smearing sealant over every joint.

Test and dry
Use low-volume water on one area at a time while a helper observes inside. Begin low and work upward. Repeat after reassembly.
Dry carpet padding completely, inspect connectors for residue, and recheck after natural rain.
