Diagnose before opening the door
Listen for motor operation, compare switch inputs, inspect fuse and wiring, and note whether the glass tilts, binds, drops, or moves slowly. A regulator does not repair a failed switch, broken guide, weak motor, or swollen weatherstrip.
Record final glass position and gaps before disassembly.
Remove trim without breaking it
Disconnect the battery if the service procedure requires it, locate hidden screws, and release clips with proper tools. Disconnect switches by their locks rather than pulling wires.
Preserve the water shield; it keeps rainwater inside the door from reaching the cabin.
Secure the glass
Use an approved support method before releasing the regulator. Glass can drop suddenly and cause serious cuts. Wear eye and hand protection and keep hands away from scissor-style mechanisms.
Mark mounting positions and remove only the hardware specified.
Install and align
Compare cable routing, rollers, stops, motor orientation, and mounting points. Start hardware loosely, guide the glass without forcing it, and cycle slowly while observing tilt and seal contact.
Do not operate the mechanism with fingers inside the door.
Restore and test
Tighten to exact specifications, secure harnesses away from moving parts, and seal the moisture barrier continuously. Test one-touch or indexing relearns if applicable, lock operation, speaker wiring, and water management.
Confirm the glass closes evenly without excessive load.
